Jewelry Appraisals

Jewelry Appraisals

A jewelry appraisal is a professional evaluation of your jewelry’s quality and value, typically used for insurance coverage, estate planning, or personal documentation. At Bailey’s Fine Jewelry, our experienced team provides detailed, accurate appraisals for diamonds, gemstones, and fine jewelry.

Working within the jewelry industry by buying and selling jewelry does not make one an appraiser, nor should appraising be treated as an inalienable right that comes with the job. Appraising is a profession, just as a doctor, lawyer, or CPA, where one must be educated and tested. At Bailey’s, experience is what is important.

Appraisal Value vs. Selling Value

It’s important to understand that appraisal value is typically different from resale value. Appraisals are often used for insurance replacement purposes and reflect what it would cost to replace the item at retail, not what you would receive if selling it.

The Bailey's Difference

AGS Accredited

We are an American Gem Society (AGS) Accredited Gem Lab. Accredited Gem Labs are rare because of the extremely stringent staffing requirements to qualify. A Certified Gemologist must be on staff at all times, and state-of-the-art gemological testing equipment is required for the lab to be accredited. Even today, there are fewer than 500 Accredited Gem Labs in all of North America. Bailey’s Accredited Gem Lab guarantees real protection for our customers against gemstones that might be artificially treated, dyed, or otherwise adulterated an increasingly common occurrence.

Bridal Benefits

At Bailey’s, you will receive a complimentary appraisal on all bridal jewelry and any item priced over $5,000, available upon request. We guarantee* that your item will appraise for the Bailey’s purchase price.

*Appraisal must be completed by an AGS Certified Gemologist Appraiser. Appraisal must be completed within 100 days of the purchase price, as prices of precious metals and gemstones fluctuate, similar to the stock market. Excludes pre-owned jewelry, estate jewelry, and estate watches.
